It all started with the patriarch of the Guillet family, Claude Guillet Senior. In 1958, he was working as a mechanic at the Esso Imperial gas station in Saint-Anne-de-Sabrevois when he became a dealer of Massey-Ferguson products.
Six years later, in 1964, Guillet & Brothers was born. In partnership with his brother André, Claude Senior opened a farm machinery store and repair shop on his land. The Sabrevois branch of Guillet Equipment is still located there.
The hard work of the two brothers, who never counted their hours, paid off. In 1972, the company expanded its workshop to meet the growing demand, and in 1976, a new warehouse was built on Guillet Street to distribute Badger products throughout Quebec.
Guillet & Brothers machinery became increasingly popular, and the company carved out a place for itself in the field of agricultural equipment.
The second generation of Guillet's took over in 1984 when Jacques and Claude Junior (Claude Senior's children) and Luc (André's son) purchased the Guillet & Brothers inventory and founded Guillet Equipment.
The builders of the family business did not hang up their skates and worked together with their sons to serve their customers. In 1992, Claude Senior even bought out Luc's shares.
Over the years, Guillet Equipment has seen several family members join the team to contribute to the company's growth. A new partnership formed in 2015 now includes members of the family’s third generation.
This partnership, which is composed of Michel Roy, Richard Guillet, Claude Senior and Claude Junior, allowed for the acquisition of the Napierville branch in 2017 and the expansion of the business, which resolutely follows the trends of the agricultural sector. In 2020, Tommy Roy, Michel's son, joined the quartet.
Thanks to the sale and maintenance of machinery, Guillet has become an employer of choice for many residents of the Haut-Richelieu area. Today, there are about twenty employees, not including the bosses and the trainees.
